The 14th June was a busy day… I’d filled my morning with Ipswich Cup appointments then off to beautiful Branell Homestead to take care of Cassie and her nearest!
I arrived a little early, so it meant no rushing and I also get a proper introduction to those I’ll be taking care of. Everyone was super excited! Nothing but smiles filled the room – it was going to be a perfect day! Cassie’s gorgeous gown along with the Bridesmaids hung in the window… along with her most perfect choice of footwear, blinged out white chuck taylors!
Cassie chose a defined yet elegant style for her makeup complete only with the perfect red lip, her girls featuring a natural glow and definition to the eye with a soft lip. Simply stunning, the whole time I spent laughing… a hilarious bunch! I think I went home with stronger tummy muscles! Cassie, it was an absolute pleasure to be part of your day, I feel honoured to have been able to get to know you a little more (we seriously got on so well!) and wish you every happiness in your future!
I’ve had time to catch up with the new… Mrs Hockley! Here is what she had to say…
Venue? Branell Homestead
Photographer? Corrina Louise Photography
Florist? I bought my bouquet from an Indonesian company that hand makes the flowers from birch wood and my bouquet was made from these sweet little green, purple and blue flowers with pearl sprays and Swarovski crystals. We visited the rocklea flower markets the morning before and picked a few bright purple, blue and white blooms for the bridesmaid bouquets and I arranged them myself.
Hairstylist? Mandy Hair Designs
Makeup Artist? Tyneale Hahn Makeup Artist
What was your favourite moment of the day?
Always a difficult question… I’m not sure if it is when I first saw Jamie as I was walking down the aisle and I burst into tears or our first dance when we pulled out some moves we’d learnt at our first ever and only dance class the Wednesday before hand.
What was your funniest moment of the day?
Another difficult one! It could be the deep breath a took just before I was to walk down the aisle and I popped my zipper resulting in it having to be held up by safety pins – at this point there is really nothing you can do so I just laughed! Our whole ceremony got a few laughs when we got nervous and said a few things out of turn… I think my favourite of the favourites would have to be at the reception when I was told by a friend that my sister and maid of honour had just fallen down the stairs very promptly after saying “let’s make a grand entrance!” It’s ok though, she sees the funny side of it too! There are so many one liners that deserve an honourable mention but those could fill a short novel!
How did you add your own personal touch to your day?
Almost everything I did for our wedding day was to put a personal touch to, I desperately was avoiding venues that provided cookie cutter weddings, many things were hand made. My favourites would have to be the signature quilt to replace the standard guest book, the centre pieces made from tree trunks, paper flowers in upside down wine glasses with candles on top and of course my DIY sparkly chucks for my wedding shoes – a comfortable bride is a happy bride (and one who can run quickly to the dance floor for the nutbush!)
How did you choose your Bridal Party?
This was easy for me. My sister was my maid of honour and my best friend was my second bridesmaid. There was never going to be an issue with bridesmaids for me, I couldn’t have offended anyone and I couldn’t have picked better girls!
Do you have any advice for future Brides?
1. Get your stressing done the day before, the day of there is absolutely nothing more you can do so just go along for the ride!
2. Plan in your wedding budget that you will probably eat out every night the week before your wedding – with everything that needs to be done, there is no way you are going to want to do the dishes!
3. Give your bridesmaids a clear description of what you’ll want them to do on the day – I’m not talking bridezilla stuff here, just remind them to pick up your train when moving between locations and making sure your dress looks pretty in photos and during the ceremony, I didn’t do this and it’s probably my only regret as I had a big train and an even bigger veil.
What did you think of the makeup and service you received?
I know I can speak for myself, my bridesmaids and my mum when I say we were overjoyed with our make up. It lasted the test of time and the tears! I have never felt more beautiful than I did on that day. When I put on my veil and looked at myself in the mirror I exclaimed “holy crap! Have you seen me?!” My last minute decision to change my lip colour to a vibrant red really pulled my desired look into reality and it’s all thanks to the flawless work and attention to detail provided by Tyneale . Not to mention she kept all of us laughing, listening to all of my ‘particular’ bridesmaids and pulling off what will always be in my biased mind, the most beautiful bridal party I have ever seen!
