Brooke & Rob <3

On the 27th of September I headed to the country, the Boonah Valley Motel to be exact! Brooke’s perfect day had finally arrived! I say finally because this lovely lady is super organised and secured her Wedding Day makeup well in advance (future Bride’s take note, the early bird gets their preferred makeup artist!) I was so excited to receive Brooke’s enquiry… we lived down the road from each other as kids and our parents were friends! Unfortunately time passes, people move and you loose touch, it was so nice catching up again! Everyone was just as I remembered, just a little older!

Brooke and Rob selected a beautiful location for their “I do’s” it was so nice to head away from busy high ways and appreciate the serenity of open spaces!

Brooke, I had a wonderful morning taking care of you and your nearest and dearest… my cheeks hurt when I drove home, clearly I smiled and laughed a lot! I am always honoured when chosen to professionally be there for a friends occasion. Brooke sent me the sweetest testimonial (which you can read below) I sat at the computer reading her recount of the day with a ridiculous smile on my face and warmth in my heart as I could imagine these moments unfolding. Wishing you both the happiest ever after as you settle into married life… and I’m sure we won’t loose touch again now that we have email!!

The Perfect Day… from the Bride.

My favourite moment of the day…
How do I pick just one!? Our whole day was truly amazing. As cliche as it sounds, it was the best day of our lives! A few of my favourite moments were…
Arriving at our ceremony and getting out of the car, to see all of our family and friends there, looking at me! It was almost overwhelming, seeing everyone from different parts of our lives, all in the one place. I was extremely excited and kept waving to people and saying hello as I walked down the aisle (this looks a little funny on our video!)…then I looked a little further, down the aisle and saw my (now) husband. The grin on his face was heart warming and I just wanted to run to him! Another wonderful part of the day was actually our speeches. Far from the boring, mundane speeches you so often hear, everyone who spoke had lots of funny and happy moments to share.
How I found and selected the dress…
Hmm, almost a funny story. I selected a dress 9 months before our wedding, ordered it and received it about 2 months away from the big day. After  2 attempts at making some alterations to it, it just wasn’t right anymore. Amid tears and being literally 5 weeks away from the day, I made a last minute appointment at the only Bridal store in Brisbane open on a Sunday, just so I knew I had a back-up option, and would be able to sleep that night, until we figured out what to do with my dress. So, I went to the appointment and within 20 minutes, walked out with a new and the most stunning dress I have ever owned. It’s strange how things are just meant to be. I really liked my first dress and thought it was great, but then I tried on THE dress and that was just it. I adore it!… and want to wear it again, as soon as possible!
(Huge thanks and plug for The Bride’s Market at Woolloongabba – amazing gowns and phenomenal customer service! Knowing the stress I had gone through with being so close to the wedding day, Jenny Gifford gave me flowers from her own store after buying my dress as a “it’s ok, we understand” – I cried, happy tears!)
Personal touches on the day…
I’m very blessed to have an extremely creative Mum and sister (who was also my bridesmaid). We made our own invitations, table centre pieces (random jars filled with Maltesers, flowers and candles) decorations (strings of an endless number of paper hearts, printed with music notes and cupcakes – our favourite things in life) Mum is a talented scrap-booker, so her handy-work was amazing. I also made our cake. That was a little stressful, but so happy I did it!
How did we find and select vendors…
We are very lucky to know a few people in the “wedding business”. Rob is a drummer, so knew exactly who to ask to be our musicians for the night. He is also a photographer, so had inside knowledge on who was great at capturing our special moments on the day. I had many glowing recommendations for Tyneale for make-up and our families were also friends growing up, so that fell into place perfectly! I made our cake, and Google helped us with the venue. It was the first place we looked at and just “us” and couldn’t have been more suited to the feel and atmosphere we were aiming for.
Relax! It will all come together. If any little things aren’t done by the day… who is really going to know!? Sort the big stuff and roll with the rest.
Don’t be afraid to delegate too. When friends say “Let me know if I can help with anything” – they mean it! That’s what friends are for. Enjoy the day… it does go way too fast, so ensure you take a few moments, with your new husband, to just step back or sit down and watch what is happening. Just have fun.
Funny moments…
I almost didn’t have my vows, oops! Well actually, I didn’t have them at all. I thought Rob and the celebrant were sorting out printing them, but they only printed Rob’s vows. Fortunately we were saying the same thing, so when I realised this, mid-ceremony, I grabbed Rob’s vows from him as he was folding them up to pop back in his pocket, and made sure I replaced the words husband and wife around, to fit. Phew! Another fun moment was during our wedding party photos. We had them at the back of the Boonah Valley Motel property, behind the motel rooms, in a paddock setting. It became very cool, very quickly and my bridesmaids and I were a little chilly and huddled together for warmth. A few of our guests were watching this happen from their courtyards, and ran down a hill with a blanket from the room for us. So we have a great photo of us all wrapped up in a cozy blanket, in our dresses!
Thoughts on Make-up and service…
Just. Perfect. 🙂 Right from my first enquiry, Tyneale was friendly, helpful, professional and reliable. The whole process from booking, to my trial, to the big day was so seamless. Tyneale has such a talent for what she does professionally and for putting everyone at ease. I’m not someone who wears much make-up, if any, so I was a little nervous about not looking like myself. This was never an issue. My look was natural, and a great balance of feeling “prettied-up” while still looking like me. My Mum and Mother-In-Law had similar concerns, and ended up raving about their make-up! One of my bridesmaids still won’t stop talking about her “fabulous lashes” too. Hehe.  Nothing was rushed on the day and any little requests we had, were met perfectly. Everyone was relaxed and had a wonderful time getting ready together and feeling all “girly”! I felt like every bride should – feminine, flawless and fabulous! Thank you so much Tyneale for being such an important part of our perfect day.
Lots of love,
Brooke Arnolda. xoxo
