It was August 22nd and I headed to the Mercure Clear Mountain Lodge. A gorgeous venue hidden by trees, you’d never know that Brisbane City wasn’t that far away!
I arrived to a very organised bunch of ladies greeting me with smiles, the morning ran perfectly! Plenty of time for the Bride to pop down to her Reception and add any final touches, super cute flowergirls arriving… all as it should be!
Wishing you every happiness Caitlyn and Luke! It was my pleasure to share in your day! I particularly loved hearing about every personal touch you added to your day (yes, one very crafty and creative Bride! You’ll see below.).
Here’s what the Bride thought…
Photographer? Friends and Family all took photos for us and uploaded them to WedPics. We had hundreds of amazing photos to choose from!
Florist? Rocklea Flower Markets did an amazing job with our flowers.
What was your favourite moment of the day? Taking pictures with everyone after the ceremony. We had about 30 minutes of free time before the reception so everyone took photos as the sun went down. Luke and I were so emotional from the Ceremony and everybody was smiling and just enjoying the time together.
The location chosen for your Perfect Day was magical! How did you select your Venue? Good old fashions internet research. We knew that we would only have a small outdoor Wedding and that we wanted to stay overnight. (I loved the idea of having breakfast with everyone the day after). We looked for an all inclusive venue with an amazing view, Clear Mountain was the clear choice. After we visited to see the grounds we just couldn’t look anywhere else.
What personal touches did you add to your day? (I know you made many things!!) For the most personal touch my wonderful Mother made my gorgeous Wedding Dress after much convincing and put up with me changing my mind a few times. She made me a lace top and blue tulle skirt for the Luke and I shared with guests prior to the Ceremony; and a matching lace skirt which I wore for the Ceremony and Reception. I made belts for the Bridesmaids with touches of the Wedding Dress material and made tulle skirts for the Flowergirls. My Mother also made my Wedding Cake which was more special. We ordered extra blooms from the florist to decorate the cake. It was a fun experience decorating it together in the days before the Wedding. The place cards at the tables were gift tags on personalised presents fr the guests (which wasn’t so bad with only 35 guests). Each tag was hand drawn with water colours and the presents were wrapped in pictures I had cut from wedding magazines. My final bit of DIY was making gift packs for all the guests that stayed overnight – we gave them a morning after kit, water and snacks to keep them going. I never intended on having so many DIY aspects to the Wedding but it was just easier to make what I wanted then to buy something that was ‘almost’ what I wanted. Overall it was great fun and everyone enjoyed the personal touches.
How did you choose your Bridal Party? As soon as we started planning the Wedding I knew that I would have my lovely sister Rachel and my two closest friends, Libbi and Tee. Luke said straight away that three is perfect because he would have his brothers, Matthew and Shaun and my brother Jacob. It was probably the quickest and easiest decision we made in the whole planning process. We also knew that we would have our friends daughters Ki and Indi be our Flowergirls, and before he was even born we knew our little nephew Stirling would be the ring bearer. It was important to have our friends and family close on the day and it made it even more special.
What did you think of the makeup and service you received? The service was great and the makeup was beautiful. We had a Trial a few months earlier so Tyneale knew the look I wanted and had worked out what to do for me on the day. Everything went to plan and the makeup was perfect. The Bridesmaids and Mother of the Bride all loved the makeup, the looked stunning all day and all night.
Any advice for future Brides? Include your partnew and make sure you talk about what’s important to both of you on the day. Stop reading wedding magazines and blogs once you know what you want. Accept help from friends and family, they will love the chance to be involved. And finally, just remember to breath and really enjoy every moment because it really will be over before you know it.
